EPFO grievance (EPFiGMS) attachments: PDF only, 2 MB in total
Checked against official sources on 25 October 2026
On EPFO's grievance portal EPFiGMS, the optional attachment must be in PDF format. You can attach up to 3 files, and together they can be at most 2 MB. The portal shows “You can attach only pdf document” for other formats and “You can upload document up to 2 MB in size” when the total is too large.
| Upload | Limit |
|---|---|
| File type | PDF only |
| Number of files | up to 3 |
| Total size of all attachments | 2 MB |
| File name | letters and underscore, one dot |
Fitting three documents into 2 MB
Because the 2 MB is shared by all files, compress each one first. Open Compress PDF and use a 600 KB target per file, or merge the documents into one PDF with Merge PDF and compress that to 2 MB.
Photos of passbooks or cheques
EPFiGMS takes PDF only. Turn photos into a PDF with JPG to PDF, then compress.
Use a simple file name
The portal rejects names with spaces, numbers or extra dots. Rename files like passbook_copy.pdf before attaching.
