How it works, tips and questions
Open Add page numbers, pick a style such as “Page 1 of 9”, a position and the starting number, and download. You can leave the cover page unnumbered. It runs in your browser.
Step by step
- Choose the PDF.
- Pick a style: “Page 1 of 9”, “1 / 9” or “1”.
- Choose a position and the starting number.
- Download the numbered PDF.
Good to know
Numbering for court, tender and office submissions
Many submissions ask for every page to be numbered, often as “Page X of Y” so that a missing page is obvious. Choose that style, and tick “Leave the first page unnumbered” if your document has a cover or index page.
Starting from a number other than 1
If this file continues an earlier volume, set “Start at” to the number of its first page and the total adjusts to match.
Questions
Will the numbers cover my text?
Numbers sit in the margin, 24 points from the edge. Very tightly set pages may touch, in which case try a different corner.
Does it change anything else in the PDF?
No. Only the numbers are added; text, links and images stay exactly as they were.
